There have been no deaths related to COVID-19 reported by the National Public Health Emergency Team today, but 36 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed.
The have now been a total of 25,802 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland, and the pandemic has claimed 1,753 lives in the Republic.
The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
As of midnight on Sunday, July 19 there were 492 cases in Galway Department of Health statistics show.
“Together, we have achieved so much in our ongoing effort to limit the spread of COVID-19 in our communities,” said Dr. Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer, “making it possible to take steps to reopen society and the economy.”
Dr Glynn reiterated advice urging people to follow public health guidance on wearing face coverings, washing hands, and social distancing.
As of midnight Monday, July 20, 574,487 tests for the coronavirus have been carried out, with 51,128 carried out in the past week.
Of those tests in the past week, 139 tests were positive, giving a positivity rate of 0.27%.
