The Department of Health has reported 270 new cases of COVID-19 today and one further death related to the illness.

Fewer than five new cases were reported in Galway in today’s figures, while 103 cases were confirmed in Dublin, 34 in Limerick and 20 in Donegal.

When the number of new cases is smaller than 5, the Department of Health does not release the exact figure until the following day.

Of the additional 270 additional cases, 69% are under 45 years of age and the median age is 34.

There are currently four people with COVID-19 at UHG and two at Portiuncula, according to the latest HSE data. One person who has been diagnosed with COVID is in ICU at UHG.

Nationally there are 291 people with the virus in hospital, of which 39 are in ICU.
