No deaths related to COVID-19 have been recorded today – the seventeenth day without a death related to the virus in the State.
NPHET have confirmed 138 new cases, and nine of these are in Galway – the joint third most affected today after Dublin and Limerick.
There have been 534 confirmed cases in Galway since the start of the pandemic.
Of today’s new cases, 68 are in Dublin, 13 in Limerick, 9 in Kildare, 5 in Cork, 5 in Wexford and 5 in Wicklow.
The remaining 24 cases in Carlow, Clare, Donegal, Kilkenny, Laois, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Meath, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Waterford, and Westmeath.
67% of the new cases are under 45 years of age while 39% are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case.
There are fewer people in ICU today than yesterday, and the number of people in Irish hospitals is 49.
