No further deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported today, and 56 new cases have been confirmed.

The majority of cases (39) are in Dublin and Kildare – and the remaining 17 cases are spread across ten counties including Galway.

A total of 27,313 people have now tested positive for the virus across the State, while the number of deaths remains 1,774.

Of today’s cases, 29 are men and 27 are women, while 79% are under 45 years of age.

Twelve cases have been identified as community transmission and 35 are confirmed to be associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of a confirmed case.

The HSE says that it is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
