The Department of Health has today reported an additional 499 cases of COVID-19 in the Republic and eight further deaths related to the illness.
The number of new cases reported today in Galway is 18, while almost half of the cases are in Dublin and Cork.
The median age of today’s cases is 32 and 68% are under the age of 45.
As of 2pm today, there are 292 people with COVID-19 in hospital, of which 37 are in ICU.
The 14-day incidence rate in Galway is now 187.9.
