Galway Daily news Galway hospitals see COVID cases double in recent weeks

The Department of Health has reported 242 cases of Covid-19 today but no further deaths related to the disease.

Sixteen of the new cases are in Galway, while 76 are in Dublin, 27 in Donegal and 22 in Kilkenny.

63% are under 45 years of age and the median age is 37 years old.

There are seven people in Galway hospitals with Covid-19, six of whom are at UHG. One Covid-19 patient at the hospital is in ICU.

As of 2pm today, 223 people across the country with the disease are hospitalised, of which 28 are in ICU. There have been 9 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

There has now been a total of 74,468 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Republic.
