Thirteen further deaths related to Covid-19 have been confirmed by health officials this afternoon, as well as 1,269 new cases of the disease across the Republic.
Seventy-four new cases were confirmed in Galway, which has the fifth highest number of new infections after Meath, Dublin, Cork and Cavan.
Of all of the cases reported today, 63% are under the age of 45 and the median age is 34 years. All of the Covid-related deaths are said to be recent.
The latest hospital figures show there are 34 people in ICU across the state from a total of 315 people in hospital.
Yesterday’s data from the HSE showed there are 10 people with Covid in UHG and two in Portiuncula. None of the twelve Covid patients in Galway were in ICU.
There have been 810 cases in Galway in the last two weeks and the county’s 14-day Covid incidence rate per 100,000 people now stands at 313.9
