Three additional deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported by health officials today, along with 525 new confirmed cases.
Of the deaths reported today, just one is known to have occurred in March. One of the deaths occurred in January, and the date of the last remains under investigation.
Of today’s cases, 18 are in Galway, where the 14-day incidence rate has now fallen to 153.5 per 100,000 people. There have been 396 cases reported here in the past two weeks.
There have now been a total of 4,422 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland, and 223,219 confirmed cases in the country.
Validation of data at the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of 5 confirmed cases.
As of 8am today, 423 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised in Ireland, of whom 103 are in ICU. There have been 14 people admitted to hospital for the disease in the past 24 hours.
Of the cases notified today:
- 271 are men / 254 are women
- 74% are under 45 years of age
- the median age is 31 years old
- 214 in Dublin, 37 in Meath, 28 in Offaly, 28 in Limerick and 25 in Wicklow and the remaining 193 cases are spread across 19 other counties
