One additional death related to COVID-19 has been reported by the Department of Health today.

Health officials have also reported another 408 new cases of the disease today, for which there is no county breakdown available.

The median age of today’s cases is 31 years old, and 77% of cases are in people under the age of 45.

There have been a total of 4,919 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland, and 252,303 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.

Validation of data at the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of nine previously confirmed cases, which is reflected in the national total.

As of 8am this morning there were 110 people hospitalised with COVID-19, of whom 33 are in the ICU.
