There have been 453 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Department of Health today, but no additional deaths related to the disease.

Of the cases notified today, the median age is 25 years old, and 78% of cases are in people under the age of 45.

No county breakdown of the new confirmed cases has been given by health officials today.

There has been a total of 250,290 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic, and 4,906 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland.

Validation of data at the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of 1 confirmed case

As of 8am today, 129 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised in Ireland, of whom 40 are in ICU. There have been five people hospitalised in the past 24 hours.

There had been 1,591,888 doses of vaccine administered in Ireland as of May 1, with 445,326 people now fully vaccinated.
