The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state has reached 4,994, with 390 more people testing positive in the past day.

The number of COVID-19 related deaths has risen by 21 in the past twenty-four hours, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 158.

In Galway, the number of confirmed cases has risen by three.

As of midnight, 3 April, there were 108 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Galway, out of a total of 4,443 cases.

That number is up from 105 which was the total number of cases on midnight, 2 April.

Of the 21 deaths reported today, 17 were located in east, two in the south and two in the west.

Twelve patients were reported as having underlying health conditions and the median age of today’s reported deaths is 81.

On the island of Ireland, 221 people have now died after being diagnosed with the virus, and there are over 6,000 confirmed cases.
