Contractor chosen for extension of Craughwell National School

Plans for a major extension of Craughwell National School have moved forward, with a preferred contractor chosen for the construction project.

The primary school at Crinnage, Craughwell is due to get a two storey extension which will add eight new classrooms,

The existing national school building will also undergo a complete refurbishment as part of the project.

Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon said that the Department of Public Works has confirmed that a preferred contractor for the project has been identified after assessing tenders.

This preferred contractor will be sent to the Department of Education for final approval shortly.

It is expected that construction work will begin in the third quarter of this year Ciaran Cannon added.

“There’s no going back now on this project. This is very positive news for a great school community and I’m grateful to Minister O’Donovan and his predecessor Kevin Boxer Moran for their commitment to the project.”
