A civic reception was held by the county council this week to honour Dr. Ronan Glynn for his work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Claregalway native served as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer from October 2018 to May of this year.

For several month during 2020, in the height of the pandemic, he also served as Acting Chief Medical Officer while Dr Tony Holohan took an absence to care for his family.

During the pandemic he was frequently the public face of the health service’s response, holding many press conferences.

The Civic Reception was held at Áras an Chontae on Monday, October 24.

It also honoured the achievements of Galway All-Ireland Senior Ladies Camogie Champions 2021 and Lackagh Comhaltas Group.
