City Council warns of falling trees and overtopping as Lorenzo approaches

Galway City Council has said there is a risk of overtopping and falling trees when Storm Lorenzo hits Ireland tomorrow night.

The City Council’s Senior Management Team, including Heads of Department and key line managers, met today as well as its Severe Weather team.

Contingency arrangements will be outlined in detail later today, which will include arrangements for the deployment and collection of sandbags, potential road closures, car park closures and public advisories.

A Status Orange weather warning was issued by Met Eireann today for Galway and five other counties which will come into effect tomorrow (Thursday) at 6pm.
