Galway City Council is once again seeking Expressions of Interest to develop the site of the former Tourist Information Office in Salthill.

The 0.13ha site is located next to Galway Atlantaquaria, facing directly onto the Promenade and with easy access to the rest of Salthill.

A small portion of the site is occupied by a 1,915sq ft building that was once a tourist information office for the area.

The tender notes that current building is in need of “significant investment”, but also states that “retention of the building is not a requirement of this tender”.

“A site visit with an independent structural engineer is a requirement for any prospective applicants before a submission of a proposal.”

“The site enjoys superb views over Galway Bay and is located next to Toft public car park and is well served by public transport.”

The city council has stipulated that any proposals to lease the site, which is zoned for Recreation and Amenity usage, must benefit the community in Salthill and the west side of the city.

“The preferred applicant will be required to submit for planning permission for the project within 12 months of project approval.”

Tender applications for the project can be made to the city council through the eTenders portal.
