Galway Daily news Defiant car enthusiasts plan to go ahead with Salthill car meet

Traffic in Salthill was brought to a crawl on Sunday as large numbers of ‘boy racers’ congregated on the Promenade for an apparent car meet up.

Traffic was heavy extremely in both directions on Salthill Prom as a significant number of cars appeared to be circling the road from Seapoint roundabout onwards.

This gathering drew drivers from around the country, with licence plates from many counties featured on the modified cars.

Crowds  also gathered in the area, with some people egging on the drivers and encouraging them to perform extremely loud and smoky revving while stopped in traffic.

Significant delays also occurred on all the roads approaching and around the promenade as a result of this.
