Irish Water and Galway County Council have notified consumers on the Gort Public Water Supply that the Boil Water Notice has been lifted.

The notice was imposed on the supply on December 12, and was lifted this afternoon.

Those who were affected by the notice can now resume using water for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.

Irish Water issued the Boil Water Notice to protect the health of more than 2,700 people in the Gort area due to issues at the water treatment plant caused by freezing conditions.

The Irish Water Customer Contact Centre is available to answer queries in relation to the notice on 1800 278 278.
