A Ballinasloe man picked up a cheque worth €500,000 in Lottery HQ this afternoon after scooping the EuroMillions Plus top prize in last Friday’s draw.
The lucky lottery player who purchased the winning ticket at the EuroSpar store at St. Michael’s Square in Townparks on Friday 30 June, revealed that he’s been playing the same numbers for the last 12 months.
“I’ve been playing the same numbers for the past year. I’ve carefully selected them. I couldn’t believe it when I checked online and saw them all there.
“I wobbled out to the kitchen to tell my wife the news. I don’t think she believed me at first.”
His wife said that his face was ‘grey with shock’ when he came into the room and then he whispered that he thought he had just won half a million euro.
The lucky player said that the past week has been surreal reading the papers and listening to the radio and hearing presenters talk about the big winners from Ballinasloe.
Today’s claim comes off the back of a recent spate of wins in Galway. Over the past two weeks three Galwegians have scooped the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000.
The previous Friday night draw (23 June), another Ballinasloe player scooped their €500,000 win after purchasing their ticket at the Corrib Oil in Brackernagh and this Tuesday (4 July), a player Ballybrit became half a million euro richer after purchasing their winning ticket in McGreal’s Mace in Ballybrit Court, Ballybrit.
Meanwhile, there was no winner of last Tuesday’s EuroMillions jackpot of €49,799,831, which means tomorrow’s jackpot rolls to an estimated €65 Million euro.
