Galway Daily news Fight over Headford Road car park goes back to An Bord Pleanála

Planning permission is being sought to retain a car park on the Headford Road while plans progress to convert the site to student housing.

Cleverson Ltd is seeking a two year retention permission of its existing 58 space car park on the Headford Road, next to the Galway Retail Park.

The land makes up part of the area which was approved by the city council in February of this year, and then again by An Bord Pleanála in July.

“It is the applicant’s intention to progress with the detailed design, tender, and construction of the student accommodation over the coming year, with a view to ‘breaking ground’ for construction sometime towards the end of 2022.”

“The applicant wishes to keep the site secure through its continued use during the interim period and is now submitting this application in consideration of same,” planning documents state.

Galway City Council is due to make a decision on this planning application by October 24.
