Coronavirus: Number of confirmed cases in Galway rises again

The Department of Health has confirmed that another person has died in the Republic from COVID-19.

There are now 25 confirmed cases in Galway, according to the most recent breakdown available (which deals only with the first 712 cases).

Galway remains the third worst affected county after Dublin and Cork, but with much fewer cases.

There were 121 new cases in Republic of Ireland today, with 60 new cases confirmed in the North.

This brings the total number of cases in the Republic to 904 and on the island to 1034.

The person who died was a a male in the east of the country, with an underlying health condition.

30% of confirmed cases have been hospitalised, with 17 people admitted to ICU.
