Funding for coastal repair works on Inis Mór to the tune of €97,500 has been allocated this week.
Galway West TD and Minister of State for the Islands Seán Kyne announced that more than three quarters of a million will be spend on capital projects on Inis Mór and 10 other islands in Cork, Mayo, and Donegal.
The money awarded to Galway County Council will be used for coastal protection works near the graveyard, which has been threatened by extreme weather events.
“Today’s announcement regarding the provision of assistance towards implementing minor works on the islands shows that the Government is committed to providing resources in order to improve infrastructure on the islands when those resources are available,” Seán Kyne said.
