Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for blight for five counties in the West.
The forecasters say that on Tuesday and a for a few days after, weather conditions will be conducive to the spread of Potato Blight.
The warning, which comes into effect at 1am on Tuesday, affects Galway, Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo.
The most likely affected areas will be along the coast and Met Éireann says that there will be opportunities for spraying on Sunday and Monday.
Blight warnings are issued by the national forecaster if a spell of mild and humid weather is expected to last long enough for potato blight spores to develop and subsequently spread to nearby plants.
