Sixty-seven street parties will take place across Co. Galway tomorrow at 12 noon as part of the National Street Feast celebrations.
1,344 street feasts will be held across the country and 120,000 neighbours are expected to take part.
As well as the 67 communities across Galway that will be sitting down to lunch, there will be over 558 Street Feasts in Dublin.
And in Cork, a record 104 Street Feasts will take place.
The celebrations will take place in every county of Ireland, in parks, cul-de-sacs, footpaths, laneways, car parks, fields and front gardens.
Patron of Street Feast, President Michael D. Higgins said: “We must all by now realise the importance of community, inclusion, creativity and togetherness – all values that require support and a conscious effort of care, protection and solidarity. Initiatives such as Street Feast provide exactly that type of opportunity.”
