Micil Distillery’s new Connemara Irish Cream has been crowned the best on the planet at the World Liqueur Awards 2022.
The distillery’s Heritage Poitín also won Best Grain Spirit in the world in the unaged spirit category – a impressive result for their most authentic poitín recipe.
The announcement comes just months after Micil took home the award for Best Contemporary Irish Gin at the World Gin Awards.
Micil Connemara Irish Cream was launched just six months ago, and a 700ml 17% abv bottle has a recommended retail price of €29.
Commenting on the wins, Micil’s co-founder, Pádraic Ó Griallais, said that they are delighted to win these awards.
“It means a huge amount to us having our family’s poitín heritage at the core of these recipes and to be recognised by our peers in this way,” he said.
“We’ve received some tremendous feedback on Micil Irish Cream from our wholesalers, retailers and consumers since its release and it has also gained our first national listing with O’Briens Wines in Ireland.”
He said that at a time when they are growing the team with numerous new roles going live in the coming weeks, these awards give them great confidence in the future of the Micil brand.
