It was a good day for Galway at the Bar of the Year Awards on Monday night, with AnIt was a good day for Galway at the Bar of the Year Awards on Monday night, with An Púcán and the Quays bringing home trophies.
The Quays Bar and Music Hall was the overall winner of the Best Live Entertainment Category at the event in Dublin’s Clayton Hotel on Monday.
The other big winner for Galway was An Púcán, which cemented its popular reputation by being named the Best Bar in Connacht/Ulster in the People’s Choice category for the third year running.
Connacht Group General Manger Wayne Neilon said, “this award is very deserving recognition of the hard working and passionate team in An Púcán, for customer to take the time to give us a vote shows how well regarded the staff of An Púcán are.”
“This year’s award is particularly welcomed after the difficult times the hospitality industry have endured.”
In other victories for Galway The Front Door got awarded Silver for LateBar/Nightclub, HYDE Bar won the Bronze Award for Best Gin Bar, and Tom Sheridan’s was the Bronze winner in the Locals Bar of the Year Category.
The glamorous event, which was hosted by Alan Shortt, saw pubs across the country recognised in 25 different categories, with Bar 1661 in Dublin being crowned the overall winner.
Other success on the night included Conor McGregor’s Black Forge pub which saw the MMA Star collect two awards himself in his usual flamboyant style.
The Bar of the Year awards celebrate all that is great about Irish pubs, clubs and bars, showcasing the high standards of the Licensed Trade across the country.
A total of 15 bars in Galway were shortlisted across multiple categories for the 2022 awards, now in their 17th year.
