Crew members of the LÉ Samuel Beckett, will be in Galway this week to discuss their experience on migrant rescue missions in the Mediterranean.

The LÉ Samuel Beckett is one of Ireland’s newer naval patrol vessels which undertakes migrant rescue missions in the Mediterranean Sea, and is the subject of the riveting RTÉ documentary, The Crossing.

Crew members from the ship will be talking about their experiences saving lives in the ocean in NUI Galway this week on Saturday, July 27 at 7pm.

This is part of a series of talks on different social and artistic topics taking place as part of Galway International Arts Festival.

It will take place at the Aula Maxima in NUIG. Tickets cost €10 and can be purchased online or at the GIAF Box Office in the Cornstore on Middle Street.
