A priest in his 60s has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a boy in Galway City in the 90s.
Tom Brady (65), of 26 Cloonarkin Drive, Oranmore entered a plea of guilty to sexual assault before a jury was due to be selected at Galway Circuit Court.
He pleaded guilty to one single charge of sexual assault under Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990.
The assault occurred between July 1994 and February 1995 at the Parochial House in Ballybane.
He has been charged with a total of 20 offences of sexual assault on the same boy.
Counsel for the defence Barry White SC asked for the case to be adjourned to next year.
Judge Rory McCabe put the case back to February 24 of next year for sentencing.
