A man who has been accused of attempting to meet a child in order to sexually exploit them in 2018 has been sent forward for trial.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of attempting to meet a child, having previously communicated, with the intent to sexually exploit them at a location in Galway city on May 27, 2018.
He has been charged under section 7 of the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017.
Garda Ciaran Mac Carthy gave evidence of the service of the book of evidence at Galway District Court this week.
Judge Mary Fahy made and order sending the man to trial at the sitting of Galway Circuit Court for criminal business commencing April 21.
Free legal aid was granted to the accused for a solicitor and one junior counsel.
