The German software company SAP has announced that it will be laying off thousands of workers, as it cuts its global workforce by 2.5%.

The company employs some 2,300 people in Ireland between its Galway and Dublin locations, though it is not yet known how many jobs will be lost in Galway.

This is the latest in a significant number of job cuts announced by tech companies in recent weeks.

Google, Alphabet, and Microsoft have also announced layoffs recently as they tighten the belt.
