The Galway based software fintech company Planet is creating 100 new jobs in Ireland, as part of a larger international expansion.
The payments company will be adding 100 new positions in Galway, Kilkenny, and Dublin over the coming months, out of 500 jobs created globally.
Planet said that these new posts will feature a mix of remote and hybrid roles in the areas of product development, technology and finance.
Founded in Galway in 1985 as Cashback Ltd, the company began by facilitating VAT refunds for international visitors in Ireland.
In the 1990s they expanded across Europe, and began working with major retailers to offer and in-store cash refund desk, paying immediate cash refunds in store.
Expansion continued in the area of currency conversion and tax free shopping globally in the coming decades, before it rebranded as Planet in 2018.
The company now employs over 2,000 staff operating in more than 20 markets globally.
