The Medtronic plant in Galway has been given planning approval for the installation of a large number of solar panels.
Planning permission has been granted for the installation of 1,000 photovoltaic panels on the roof of Medtronic’s Mervue facility, on the Michael Collins Road.
The 390W solar panels will be mounted on the south facing sloped roof, covering an area of approximately 1,700m².
The city council granted planning approval for the development with three standard conditions attached.
During the pandemic the medical devices manufacturer made huge numbers of ventilators from at the Mervue manufacturing facility.
