The postponed and much awaited concert featuring the renowned Swiss pianist Cédric Pescia will take place at the University of Galway tomorrow.
Music for Galway is hosting Cédric Pescia for some delightful Bach on Tuesday, May 23 at 8pm.
The concert that includes German classics with Bach at its core, brings the Bach element of Music for Galway’s 41st concert season to an end at the beautiful Emily Anderson Concert Hall in the University of Galway.
Lausanne born Cédric Pescia, winner of the famous “Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition”, is one of today’s most exciting pianists thanks to his refined sense of sound for music from Baroque to Contemporary and his particularly elaborate programmes.
Cédric, master of soft tones, amazes with his clear and inspired touch, his joy of playing, and his musical charisma.
For him, music is always language and movement at the same time: what he plays must speak and sing, as well as flow and dance.
Audiences will have a chance to experience this as Cédric performs a beautiful programme for solo piano that includes classics such as Schumann’s popular Waldszenen (Forest Scenes), a suite of nine short pieces, and the penultimate of Beethoven’s piano sonatas, No. 31. These pieces will be interspersed with French Suites by Bach.
Cédric was the brilliant First Prize Winner (Gold Medalist) at the 2002 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition in Salt Lake City (USA).
His concerts have taken throughout Europe, Asia, North and South America, playing the Berlin Philharmonie, the Mozarteum Salzburg, Carnegie Hall New York, Paris Philharmonie, Tokyo Sumida Triphony Hall, and many more.
