Galway Daily arts Galway Arts Festival invites you to explore a new Room

Immerse yourself in the latest of the long running ROOMS series of theatre installations by the world renowned Enda Walsh at Galway International Arts Festival.

Coming to GIAF next month from September 6 – 18, Bedsit is the eight entry in this unique series of immersive installations, which come as a partnership between Enda Walsh and the Arts Festival’s Artistic Director, Paul Fahy.

All of the previous seven ROOMS installations have also premiered at the Galway International Arts Festival, but have gone on to tour around the world.

These are Room 303, A Girl’s Bedroom, Kitchen, Bathroom, Office 33A, Waiting Room and Changing Room, which have featured the voices of some of Ireland’s leading actors, including Niall Buggy, Charlie Murphy, Eileen Walsh, Paul Reid, Donal O’Kelly, Aoife Duffin, Marty Rea.

The latest entry Bedsit will feature the voice of Ruth McCabe when it comes to Galway for the return of the in person arts festival in September.

‘I’m up and about and living again without realising that that’s what I’m doing.’

A woman will live her day as she lives it most days. Nothing of great significance will happen to her – but she will be living.

Each Room is presented as 15-minute immersive theatre installation with an audience of one person, or a small group family booking of up to four people.

The select audience is invited to step inside to explore the intimate space before a recorded audio begins and the story is told.

Discover it for yourself at Columban Hall, Sea Road, Galway from 6-18 September. Tickets on sale now from www.giaf.ie/festival/event/bedsit.
