A Boil Water Notice for more than 2,000 homes in Connemara has been lifted with immediate effect today.

Uisce Eireann issued a Boil Water Notice for the Carna Kilkieran Public Water Supply a week ago.

The notice for 2,294 homes and businesses was issued after the parasite cryptosporidium was detected in the water supply.

Following a period of investigations and satisfactory water quality test results the Boil Water Notice has been lifted.

Uisce Eireann acknowledges the impact of the notice on customers and thanks the community for their support while the notice was in place.

“Uisce Éireann’s primary focus remains the protection of public health and we worked with our stakeholders to lift the notice as quickly as possible,” a statement today said.
