This weekend promises yet more rainy weather in Galway after getting to enjoy a weeks long sunny spell.

Showers of rain will remain persistent across Galway today, heaviest in coastal areas and during the evening time.

There will be some hazy patches of sunshine interspersed during the day also, along with isolated thunderstorms during the evening.

Highest temperatures on Friday of 17 to 19 degrees, with moderate variable winds.

Saturday will start off poorly, with rain showers, heavy at times, in the early morning according to Met Eireann.

However, those should clear up to allow for mixed cloudy and sunshine during the rest of the morning and the early afternoon.

However, heavy rain is expected to develop once again as the day progresses, with thunderstorms forecast for later in the day and into Saturday night.

Saturday promises to be warm and muggy, with highest temperatures of 20 to 22 degrees, and only light southeasterly and variable breezes.

Sunday promises to be another slight improvement, with only light rain showers, heavy at times in places.

There also promises to be plenty of sunshine on Sunday, particularly in the morning and early afternoon.

Highest temperatures on Sunday of 18 to 20 degrees, with only light variable breezes.
