Minister Anne Rabbitte has welcomed confirmation that there will be a new Local Link service commencing next Monday from Tuam to Galway.

Route 438 will operate three daily return trips seven days per week, connecting Tuam and Headford.

It will link from Corrandulla into Galway, passing Lough Corrib and provide improved connectivity to University Hospital Galway.

Commenting on the new route, Minister Rabbitte said that the launch of Route 438 is very welcome news for Tuam and the surrounding area and creates great connectivity with Headford, Corrundulla and Galway City, particularly with University Hospital Galway.

“We can’t underestimate how important it is to keep our towns and townlands connected,” said the Galway East Fianna Fáil TD.

“Local Link is such an important service and provides people with choices when choosing to travel by bus and I don’t doubt that this will be a busy route between Tuam and Galway.

“It shows the Government is listening to what people want and investing in the infrastructure people need to live their lives and have that sense of connectivity and independence that such a service brings.”
