A number of initiatives to support the health and wellbeing of Ukrainian refugees will be supported by the Community Response Forum.
The forum was created by Galway City Council to assist Ukrainian refugees living in Galway city.
Galway Sports Partnership, Healthy Galway City, the Galway City Council Arts Office, in partnership with Galway City Partnership and Volunteer Galway, are collaborating to offer projects based on the local needs of individuals and families who have been displaced.
A broad range of projects are being rolled out to support participation in recreational, physical, creative, social and cultural activities to assist Ukrainian refugees to adapt to their new surroundings.
A number of programmes will be accessible for both Ukrainians and local residents.
A series of activities are planned for children, adults and families including physical activities and adapted sessions for older adults, Woodlands for Health, circus skills workshops, excursions and family fun days.
Projects will also offer therapeutic interventions to provide support in coping with the trauma of war and displacement, including trauma-informed workshops, music and art therapy courses.
