Latest figures show increase in homelessness in Galway

Galway Daily news Galway City Council has announced plans for a social housing development of 84 apartments and houses in Knocknacarra.

The number of people homeless in Galway has increased again in the latest figures from the Department of Housing.

In November of 2022, there were 265 homeless adults in Galway City and County, up from 250 the previous month.

Across Galway, Mayo, and Roscommon, there were 104 families living in emergency accommodation in November, three more then the previous month.

Those families had a total of 225 children, and 60 of those families only had a single parent.

Nationwide there were 8,048 homeless adults in November, a monthly increase of almost 100 people.

There were a total of 1,616 families with 3,494 child dependents without a proper home.
