Galway can expect to see some thunderstorms and hail showers this evening, with a weather warning in effect until Saturday night.
The status yellow thunderstorm warning for Galway, Mayo, Clare, and Kerry will be in effect until 9pm tonight.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms with the chance of hail may lead to spot flooding and hazardous driving conditions in that time.
A separate weather warning for heavy winds is also in effect for Galway today, and will remain in place until 8am on Sunday.
Southerly winds, veering southwesterly, will be very strong and gusty, especially near coasts with localised wave overtopping possible.
Poor weather is expected to persist throughout the weekend and into next week, with more rain, heavy at time, forecast by Met Eireann for the coming days.
