Galway and the west coast are going to be hit by very strong winds this weekend, with a weather warning issued for Saturday and Sunday.
Met Eireann has issued a status yellow wind warning for counties Galway, Mayo, Donegal, Kerry, and Clare.
The warning will be in effect from 10am on Saturday, until 8am the following Sunday morning.
During this time there will be very strong southerly winds, veering southwesterly and with powerful gusts.
Winds will be strongest in coastal areas, Met Eireann has said, with the possibility of localised wave overtopping.
At the same time, a marine Gale Warning for all Irish coasts will be in effect from 4an on Saturday until midday on Sunday.
Southerly winds, veering southwesterly, will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 at times during this.
