The Irish Wheelchair Association is launching a new Disability Action Group in Tuam, with its first public meeting next week.
The public information evening will take place on Monday at 6pm in the Ard Ri House Hotel, Tuam.
The group is meant to bring together disabled people from across Galway to meet on a regular basis, and focus on the issues that matter most to them.
“The IWA is looking for disabled people who are passionate for change and who are interested in working together with others in the community to identify issues impacting disabled people and lobby for equality for disabled people in all areas”.
Areas of concern would include the built environment, the great outdoors, housing, education, health, employment, and more.
“This will be an interactive meeting with the opportunity for attendees to raise their concerns and have their voices heard,” a statement from the IWA said.
Speakers on the night will include Joan Carthy, National Advocacy Manager IWA and Marion Cotter, IWA Tuam. Tea and Coffee will be served on arrival.
