August sees increase of over 300 people on Live Register in West

There was an increase of 306 people on the Live Register in Galway, Mayo and Roscommon in August compared to July.

CSO figures show that 18,680 people were on the Live Register in the West region last month compared to 18,374 in July.

Nationally, 197,125 people were on the Live Register in August, of whom 99,036 were males (50.2%) and 98,089 were females (49.8%).

Of those on the register last month, 10.8% were under 25 years of age.

There were 11,851 people benefitting from the EU’s Temporary Protection Directive included in the Live Register figures for August, an increase of 1,909 from July.

The total number of people on the Live Register across the State is 17,364 higher than last year.
