Galway County Council has extended a bulky goods waste collection initiative at multiple towns until the end of next week.

Goods can be dropped off at the Tuam, Ballinasloe, and Clifden Civic Amenity sites, as well as the Barna Waste recycling facility on the Headford Road.

The collection is for households only, and costs €5 per car/van and trailer.

Goods that will be accepted include sofas, three-piece suites, wardrobes, bedside lockers, mattresses, bed frames, dining tables and chairs.

Waste such as bags of household waste, construction or hazardous waste, toys, ceramic items, and textiles will not be accepted.

The collection, which was originally only meant to last to mid-August, will now run until August 27.

In order to use the wate collection, it must be booked via the Barna Recycling website before arriving at any of the above sites at: barnarecycling.com/booking.
