A Dublin man has been charged with having a veritable arsenal of gear which were intended for use in arson in Galway City.
Joseph French (30), with an address at Neilstown Park, Clondalkin, appeared before Galway District Court in custody, by video-link.
The court heard on the most recent date that directions from the DPP on how the case is to be prosecuted are not available yet.
French has been charged with possessing items intended to damage property under Section 4 of the Criminal Damage Act.
It is alleged that on February 11 of this year, on Sandy Road in Galway City, he was in possession of a red jerry can filled with petrol, a plastic bottle of flammable liquid, a cannister of butane gas, two lighters, a baseball bat, and a white metal bar.
These items were intended to damage the car and home of a man in Bohermore, the charges claim.
He has also been charged with burglary at a home in Gort na Glaise on Sandy Road on the same date, and unauthorised interference with a vehicle at the same address.
The court heard that other charges are also being considered in connection with these events.
The case will next come before the court on July 11, also via video-link.
