The Galway Races promise to be back with a flourish this summer, and we recently got a preview of the stylish extravaganza expected this year.
The Connacht Hospitality Group, sponsors of this year’s Ladies Day, couldn’t wait for July, and kicked off the festival of fashion with a night of elegance at the Hyde Bar.
The afternoon fashion showcase was a look at some of the latest looks in Brown Thomas Galway.
Ladies Day Head judge for this year Mandy Maher was joined by fellow judge Kieran O Malley hosting the event. which was attended by a number of well-known fashionistas such as Grainne Seoige, Jennifer Wrynne, Niamh O Donavan, Pam Richardson and many more.
Kieran O’Malley, who is in PR & Digital Marketing for the Connacht Hospitality Group, and of course, the famed Galway Player, said that the style on display was stunning.
“So many fabulous pieces that would definitely turn heads in Ballybrit,” he enthused. “There was a mix of vibrant colours and some classic cuts, the outfits were fun and elegant, the perfect combination for a days racing.”
Jekyll at Hyde has very quickly become recognised as the most photogenic bar space in the city with a whole host of companies using it as a location for photoshoots such as Harper, Or Jewelry and Carraig Donn to name but a few.
Hyde Bar will be the place to be seen this race week with lots of fantastic entertainment lined up for the week including The Ladies Day After party featuring Sax Appeal.
This fashion show was the first of a number of fashion shows taking place in Galway ahead of the races next month, whetting people’s appetites for the socialising, and strutting their stuff.
This will be be the first proper Galway Races to take place since 2019, after two years behind closed doors, and Kieran said that he’s counting down the days.
“The style will be out of this world but what I’m most looking forward to is meeting up with old friends again, that for me is the best part of the festival.”
The Connacht Hospitality Group have come on board as the sponsors of this year’s Ladies Day Best Dressed competition with a prize fund of €13,000.
This includes €10,000 cash for the Best Dressed Prize and €3,000 for the Best Hat.
Mandy Maher and Kieran will have the tough job of picking out the winners from what’s sure to be a spectacular display, as people pull out all the stops for the summer festival.
“It’s hard to say but we are looking for something classic and chic,” Kieran explained, adding, “for me its someone who has put a lot of thought into their outfit, perhaps its upcycled or homemade.”
“I just expect to know when we see that one outfit. The style need to be elegant, classy and show personality for me.”
The 2022 Galway Races will welcome guest back at Ballybrit Racecourse from Monday, July 25, through to Sunday, July 31, with the world renowned Ladies Day taking place on the Thursday.
