Ballinasloe student Dylan Donnelly has won first place in a national accounting competition hosted by CPA Ireland and gamification application Quitch.
Seventeen colleges across the island of Ireland took part in the ten-week competition, with a range of theory-based accounting questions released to participants on Quitch each week.
Participants could monitor their progress under their avatar name and see their score on a leader board along with the other participants.
Dylan, a student at Technological University of the Shannon, Athlone took first place with a total of 88,619 points.
Trevor Prendergast, Head of Department, Accounting and Business Computing at TUS Athlone Campus said that they are thrilled at Dylan’s achievement which was “particularly noteworthy as he is in his first year of studies of the BA in Accounting here in TUS, Athlone campus.”
“Dylan was also competing against more experienced students in other universities, some in their final year and studying on Masters programmes.
“We are delighted that Dylan availed of this opportunity with CPA Ireland and Quitch to showcase his accounting abilities on the national stage. On behalf of the lecturing team I would like to say a massive congratulations to Dylan.”
Grainne Oats, CEO of Quitch, congratulated Dylan, the other winners and everyone who participated in this exciting competition.
