University Hospital Galway is the second most overcrowded in the country today, with almost 60 patients on trolleys this morning.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reported that there were 58 patients without a bed at the Emergency Department in UHG on Friday morning.

The only hospital in worse state is the constantly haggard UH Limerick, where a staggering 93 patients are on trolleys.

At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe there are a 21 patients without beds, nine waiting in the ED and 12 in the wards.

Overall there were 484 patients admitted to Irish hospitals waiting on trolleys this morning according to INMO figures.
