University Hospital Galway is the second most overcrowded in the country for the second day in a row today.
As of this morning there were 44 patients on trolleys at UHG according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
This accounts for 10% of all patients in acute hospitals in Ireland who don’t have a bed this morning.
At Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe there are a further 12 patients admitted without a bed today.
The only hospital in worse shape than UHG today is UH Limerick, where there are a staggering 81 patients on trolleys.
Overall, the INMO has recorded 438 patients on trolleys in emergency departments and wards around the country.
