A Galway East TD has welcomed the announcement of additional funding for Tuam Stadium under the Capital Sports Grants Scheme.
A total of €297,073 was announced for the stadium on Friday under the scheme which will see over 100 groups and clubs across Galway receive funding for a range of projects.
This funding is the third tranche under the Capital Sports Grants Scheme for the stadium.
The works to be carried out include facilitating additional access and upgrades of the old changing rooms in addition to the proposal to replace the old roof on the stand.
Welcoming the announcement, Deputy Seán Canney said: “This project is well advanced, and I acknowledge the generosity of the late Joe O’Toole in providing funding for this project.
“Tuam Stadium has seen many improvements and I expect that following the works now planned we will provide a modern sports facility in Tuam which is the heart of Galway football.”
