Friday is likely to be the best part of the weekend, so enjoy it while it lasts, with sunny spells interspersed with showers.

Highest temperatures of 7° or 8° today, but dropping as low as 2° overnight in places. A moderate westerly will die down and turn light as the evening progresses.

Saturday will see more of the Galway weather we expect, with cloud and outbreaks of rain turning heavy and steady as the day progresses.

Maximum temperatures of 8° to 10° tomorrow according to Met Eireann, with a strong westerly or southwesterly wind throughout the day.

But Sunday will see a moderate improvement, with cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain turning milder as the morning progresses.

Some sunny spells are expected from Sunday afternoon, with strong westerly winds also easing up.

Temperatures on Sunday will reach highs of 8°, before dropping to a still mild 5° overnight.
